Seeding Rules and Wave Start Protocol
Elite Seeding Rules
Wave 3 to Wave 9 Seeding Rules Skiers will be assigned waves based on submitted results from previous races only, the above criteria will carry more value in the consideration, however, any result is acceptable. Results should include the race name, distance, your finish place and time as well as the total number of skiers in the race. Supplying the name of the race winner may indicate a more valuable result. Skiers will be seeded from wave 3 through 9 as to their approximate rank in the overall field. The point of wave assignments is to alleviate congestion on the course and give all skiers an opportunity to ski their best race. Entrants with little or no prior race experience will be seeded in wave 7, 8 and 9. The Wells Fargo Boulder Mountain Tour Organizing Committee’s goal is to give every participant in the tour the best possible experience. Having a clear field with the least amount of skier traffic for every racer is a priority. As a result the Committee has determined that the field for the 2008 WFBMT will be limited to the first 1000 paid entrants. Please keep in mind that the Boulder Mountain Tour is a traditional mass start marathon ski race and as such involves strategy and a certain amount of skier traffic. The wave protocol is designed to alleviate but not eliminate the congestion and required strategy associated with a successful mass start marathon ski race. The seeding process uses past finish results only to place skiers in the most appropriate start position. If the wave you start in is important to you please be sure to include on your entry an adequate amount of information to make an accurate wave assignment possible. It is not the responsibility of the race organization to research your race history and it will not be done. If after you have entered the WFBMT and you acquire a result that may change your seeding you may forward it along with a request for a re-examination of your seeding. The waves have been limited in size in an effort to give each skier the clearest possible course. You may not start in a wave other than your assignment. Your start time will have been entered into the computer and if you start in the wrong wave you will be disqualified. All waves will start exactly on time; you must be ready when the horn sounds. The colored bars on the shoulder of your bib are for identification purposes by race officials in the start area to help insure a clean start. If, after searching the entry database, you find you have been assigned a wave that is not where you think you should be assigned you may apply for a change by emailing the seeding jury at registration@bouldermountaintour.com please be sure you include adequate information in addition to the race results you included on your entry. If you cannot email you may send a letter to PO Box 173, Sun Valley, Idaho 83353. The letter must arrive before Jan 30, 2007 no exceptions. Lane Assignments There are no lane assignments for waves 3 through 9. In an effort to eliminate the need for skiers to stand in the start area for a lengthy time to “save” a lane, the access to the start area for waves 3 through 6 will be restricted till 5 minutes before the start of the elite men’s wave. The bag deposit area is located in the area adjacent to the start to lessen the distance to the start and improve communication. Wave Start Times
